Rosh Hashanah (Head of the Year) or Yom Teruah (Feast of Trumpets) is the First of the Ten Days of Awe. It is one of the Biblical festivals, established in Leviticus 23:24, Numbers 29:1.
This is the first of 10 days that leads to the Day of Judgement (Yom ha-Din) on Yom Kippur. As we believe in and practice a Realized Eschatology, it is proper to enact in ritual the opening of the book of life and the blowing of the trumpet (shofar). Meditate on the Sovereignty and Remembrance of the Holy One and the Kingdom of Zion, and pray that our names will be inscribed in the Book of Life.

On this day, we remember the revelation of the Son of God to the world through the visit of the Magi.
