The Word of God is...
The Word of God is the Mediator who stands between us and the Godhead. He lives in the words of our Prayers, and delivers them into the heavenly realm. As he promised, "For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst (Matthew 18:20)." "Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession (Hebrews 4:14)." The Word is powerful, and stands in the gap between what is seen and what is unseen.
We learn to hear the Word through the corporate discernment of the Word, not by the power of any individual. No person, no book was given to us to be our leader and guide to the truth. We were given the Holy Spirit. "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come (John 16:13)."
How do we discern the mediating voice of the Word? We come together in gentle, loving union, and discern the truth till we speak with one voice as we were commanded: "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another (John 13:34-35)." It is through our love and compassion that we know we are acting in accord with the Word of God.
Through this unity, we come together as the Body of Christ, the Holy Word of God. Like the many wells of Wisdom all draw from the same river; we, who come from diverse backgrounds and experiences, and gathered together by the Great Mediator. We were once many, "But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; for you once were NOT A PEOPLE, but now you are THE PEOPLE OF GOD; you had NOT RECEIVED MERCY, but now you have RECEIVED MERCY (1 Peter 2:9-10)."
